Aux Co'pains gourmands on the Perche/Loire border in Centre – good bread and charcuterie.

Spent New Year’s with some pals in Chapelle-Royale and got to sample some of the charcuterie of Cochonnailles du Haut-Bois. Their products are sold down the road in La Bazoche-Gouet where they teamed up with a friend who makes bread (hence the pun in their title). Happily, the next day to prepare for our Réveillon we were sent to secure more pate and bread. We snagged three breads and three more jars of Charcuterie, the Pâté de Lapin, Rillettes de Porc and a Pâté de viande which was a combination of rabbit and porc. They were each packed in lovely Weck jars and were €4,40 each. I don’t think I can even buy the dang Weck jar for that much in the States, let alone have it filled with delicious, subtle and completely genuine product. Really sorry I didn’t buy more of them and smuggle them home, instead of just the one which is now long gone.
