I just had my first Clayton’s Organic Australian Beef Strip Steak. I think they are sold exclusively by the Shoprite (Wakefern) chain out of NJ. I was not impressed. It was a portion controlled steak packed in Cryovac. It had very little visible marbling. I cooked it in a frying pan, searing first. The steak was a little tough, probably somewhere between what you’d expect from a good USDA Select or mediocre USDA Choice. What was lacking was any discernible “beef flavor”. It was very bland compared to US beef although the label stated it was fed both organic corn & grains. It this typical of Australian beef? How are cattle raised differently there?
