Austin Trip: Critique my Agenda

gquest78 | Sep 28, 201607:40 AM

Hi Everyone,

My wife and I will be traveling to Austin in early November for a wedding. This is our first trip traveling without our 15 month old baby, so we’re flying in a few days early to do some exploring, catch some live music and most importantly eat some good food!

We’ll be in town Wednesday through Sunday, but have a wedding to attend Friday evening. We’re staying roughly 10 minutes away from downtown in Northeast Austin. We will have a car.

Looking to balance out our trip with a good mix of food and drinks. Our bucket list includes: BBQ, Tex-Mex, sushi, fast casual, the best local beer, breakfast tacos, craft cocktails and a good spot for live music after dinner on Wednesday.

We’d also like to try one of Austin’s many innovative restaurants, but we’re having a tough time narrowing it down. So many good spots!! That’s why we need your help critiquing our itinerary.

Here's our plan so far...

Lunch: Odd Duck or Olamaie
Dinner: Uchi (happy hour)

Lunch: Franklin BBQ (pre-order)
Dinner: Emmer & Rye

Lunch: Chuy’s, Taco Deli, Taco More, or Torchy’s
Dinner: wedding

Lunch: open
Dinner: open

We’re trying to keep Saturday free of reservations because we’ll probably end up doing stuff with friends. Any suggestions on casual, less fussy places that are good for groups?

Places of interest:
• Whole Foods Downtown
• Central Market
• Chuy’s
• East Side Kings or Thai Kun
• Taco More
• Tacodeli
• Torchy’s Tacos
• Ramen Tatsu-Ya
• Valentina’s
• Pinthouse Pizza (beer)
• Wu Chow
• SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown
• Olamaie
• Peche
• Midnight Cowboy
• Veracruz All Natural
• Austin Beerworks
• Hop & Grain (beer)
• The Hightower
• The Townsend

Anything we’re missing? Let me know what you guys think.

Thank you in advance for the insight, much appreciated :)
