We used to go to Auntie Em's for breakfast quite often, it's a quick 10 minute drive from our house in Silverlake. For some reason we hadn't been in a while, so it was definitely time.
Every time I go, there are little changes on the menu. I'm still sad they got rid of a wonderful egg sandwich they used to do on cibatta bread with portabello mushrooms and brie cheese. Perhaps I'll request that they bring it back next time.
You order at the register when you walk in, I decided on the breakfast quesadilla after the cashier recommendation. Husband got the short stack of pancakes with berries.
This was one of the BEST breakfasts I've had in a long time. The tortilla was crisp but not oily. The eggs were flavorful and fluffy and the bacon was cooked just right. What really made this dish, though, was the chopped onion! I don't know what they used, I'm thinking maybe Vidalia, it was so crunchy and sweet, with no bitterness. Just perfect. The coffee was very good too. Husband's pancakes were fluffy and sprinkled with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and coconut.
two full breakfasts, two coffes, $24.00 with tax and tip. Not the cheapest breakfast, but made with great care.
