i've been to auntie em's several times to buy cupcakes and brownies but i've never sat down for a meal. i was set to play golf mid-day in pasadena so i thought - why not start the day with a nice breakfast at auntie em's ? I'm glad i did.
the bk/lunch/dinner menu is listed on chalkboards above the counter/kitchen area, you order at the counter - they give you a cup for the coffee go into the dining area and wait for your food. "pumped" a nice cup of coffee, picked up the local paper and sat down. it's a low key place - you feel like you are at home - tilts a little towards the liberal side - i definitely stood out in my golf outfit.
i ordered the orange honey french toast and a side of cajun turkey/chicken sausage. I was given 3 thick slices of toast, covered with berries ( mainly rasberries...yummy ) no butter given...ok by me - the syrup was on the table - sprinkled some on...i'm a happy camper. i did not taste the orange flavor but the honey flavor, the berries and the syrup worked well together. the sausage was decent - a little dry but i liked the spice of it.
on the way out, i decided to buy a few cupcakes - red velvet and chocolate and a brownie - just hope i can avoid the temptation before i bring them to my girlfriend tonight.
i'm actually thankful i do not live close to auntie em's - if i lived in the neighborhood - i can see myself walking there at least 2-3 times a week for a nice meal and a sweet treat, who am i kidding...i wish i had a place i can walk to for a nice meal or a treat !!
