Help! Aunt, Uncle + 13 yr-old Niece in from NYC -- dinner tonite!

Seeking quick advice on a good L.A. dinner spot for my aunt, uncle and niece visiting from Manhattan.

Initially I tried to book a reservation at Ciudad but nothing is available so I have a reservation at Border Grill in Santa Monica.

I think this will be okay, but I wanted to solicit advice from the 'hounds, before it gets too late in the day to cancel.

I really want them to have a fun family style dinner in a quntessential Los Angeles atmosphere. They're very open to many types of food although the niece loves event themed spots like ESPN Sports Zone... : ( She's a burgers and fries kind of kid but will bend to good Cuban Chinese and South Indian after lots of coaxing.

Can you think of anything that might be better than Border Grill that's not so far West? They're staying on the eastside which is why I initially tried Ciudad.

Thanks for any advice!!
