Aubette and Sage NYC

In an effort to get aquainted with my new nabe, I checked out Aubette last night (across from Blue Smoke) for drinks and decided to stay for a light dinner. The drinks were good and strong and had an interesting mix of beverages (some good tequilas) but didn't have Seagrams 7 (huh? What do you mean I have to sub for Canadian Club for my 7 and 7). In any event. The ambiance was nice enough so I sat at the bar and ordered the Prosciutto and Mozzarella Pops (Basically arugula, Mozz and red peppers stuffed in very salty prosciutto) with 4 toast points (nice). Very tasty but very salty. Simple but got the point across. A little dissappointed with the fresh mozz. Could have been warmer, thus melted more. When I see the word "pops" I expect it to be breaded. It was not, which was a good thing. I also ordered the crabcakes with beet roumalade. The ccakes were good, not overly breaded which allowed the crab taste to come out. Not the best I've had, certainly not the worst. But the beet roumalade was the winner. Subtle, soft and not heavily distributed on top of the cakes. A winner. I will try to duplicate this (or make it better) for my own crab cakes.

Sage NYC. I had a reservation there last night but cancelled it after seeing that Aubette had a menu. Any thoughts on this place. What's good/bad? Thanks,
