For lunch on Sunday, I'm hosting my 2 young cousins (9 and 12), who are perhaps the least chowhoundish children I have ever encountered. Really. I think they survived their first 6 years entirely on potato chips, white toast with peanut butter, and skittles.
Despite their failings, I love them dearly and would like to take them to a lunch place that will feel exciting, fun and New York-y in an authentic way, while still offering them some food they can stand to eat (grilled cheese, that kind of thing). We'll be going to free stuff at Lincoln Center, so West side would be ideal, but other options are possible.
