Last night we tried Fuego Cafe and Tapas Bar on State Bridge Road in the Carlyle Commons just west of Jones Bridge Road. Service was good, the server offered opinions and guidance, food was generally above our expectations.
We had Bruschetta Serrano: Serrano Ham, Basil, Garlic and Goat Cheese on a Crispy Shell $4.25; Roasted Red Peppers with Gorgonzola, Walnuts and Olive Oil $4.75; Calamari in Negra Modelo Beer Batter $4.75; Pork Ribs Braised in Red Rioja Sauce with Molasses Mustard $5.50; New England Sea Scallops (2) in Spicy Garlic Sauce $7.50; Dream Dates: Bacon Wrapped Dates stuffed with Gorgonzola and Grilled $3.95; Roasted Red Potatoes with Aioli (Creamy Garlic Mayo) $2.95; and for dessert we had flan. There were a total of 26 items on the Tapas menu ranging from $2.95 to $8.95 each.
Seating was available without reservations around 8pm on a Friday evening. Musical entertainment began shortly after we arrived. Both indoor and outdoor dining is available.
The scallops were excellent, but we both felt it was a poor value. My favorites were the potatoes, ribs, and calamari.
