One of my favorite places in the world is in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. (807 W Webster Ave) It's a little neighborhood greek diner called The Athenian Room. Family who live in the suburbs ONLY go to this place when then come into the city and it has become a staple for my visits to the Windy City. I always get the Kalamata chicken. The chicken itself is pretty great (I hear the gyros are good too) and is served on a bed of thick-cut fries. The most amazing part of the meal is the sauce which is poured over everything. It has a strong vinegar taste, so if you like more subtle flavors, this isn't for you. As a teenager, I would order up to 3 orders of fries just to have vessels to soak up the sauce with. I can't get enough of it. Half chicken, fries and salad is under $10.
