My lunchtime orange was a new variety to me. I have no idea what it was, and the grocery shopper of the family never remembers the names of what he buys.
The flesh is a medium pinky-orange, almost like a pink/ruby grapefruit, but darker than a pink gf, and less red than a ruby gf. The taste is mild, sweet, and quite acidic (as in, my tongue almost hurts after eating a whole orange). It's a navel-type orange, with all-one-color bright orange skin. Very photogenic, too.
It's definitely not a blood orange, because it's quite sweet and doesn't have that blood-orange tang. Besides, our store's supply of blood oranges have been quite dark lately - almost purple.
Does anyone know what I just ate? I'd love to buy more to use in a salad or dessert, just for the pretty color!
