Time to look back on 2016... What was the best thing you ate all year?
I may have pulled a rabbit out of the hat at the last hour during my first visit (finally!) to O Ya last night:
WARM SEARED SPANISH OCTOPUS: Squid ink soba, bonito, mentaiko (pollock roe), Meyer lemon ($21) [photo is 1 of 2 half servings]
The octopus was lovely, tender, but lightly crispy on the outside, the bonito flakes waving like the dish was alive, but the soba was just so amazingly creamy in its squid ink sauce. A masterful dish.
I would go to O Ya and just order a couple of servings of this and be a very happy camper.
