Asqew Grill

Just looking around for a quick lunch, my mom and I walked into Asqew Grill on Steiner today, not knowing a thing about it, and were pretty pleasantly surprised. We tried 3 diff skewers: the ginger basil lamb meat stick with basil, yellow squash and crimini mushrooms, the herb salmon stick with roma tomatoes, broccoli and red onions, and the blackened prawns. We were pretty impressed with how tender, juicy and flavorful the lamb and salmon - particularly the lamb (being a glass-half-empty type, I feared they may come overcooked, charred, and tough), though I thought they could have been a little more aggressive with the ginger on the lamb. The prawns were also nicely cooked and had a spicy zip to them.

The skewers come with starches (couscous, jasmine rice, polenta or mashed potatoes), and we tried the citrus couscous w/cilantro, tomatoes and onions and the garlic mashed potatoes. The couscous in particular was a winner.

The only total disappointment was the grilled pear salad with mixed greens, arugula and toasted almonds in a gorgonzola dressing, which was unfortunately pretty overdressed/soggy.

For the 3 skewers, salad, and a side of potatoes, the total tab was ~ $22, and for the overall quality and price, I'll definitely eat here again.

Can anyone recommend any particularly noteworthy items?
