New Asian/Pad Thai, North of Boston

The Honey Bee Cafe, Wakefield's alternative to the high priced Duck Walk closed about two months ago. Several weeks ago a new Thai, Korean & Japanese restaurant called Thai Smile opened in the same location (19 Centre Street). Since re-opening I have had a couple of take-out experiences with the restaurant, most notably a dish from their "entrees up to you" section that involved a garlic wasabi sauce. *WOW* As a wasabi lover, this dish was fantastic. You added your own wasabi to a mixture of veggies, whole pieces of garlic and a choice of meats, fish or tofu. This past Monday they had an open-house with a generous, free Thai buffet that included several dishes I could not name off the top of my head, but also Pad Thai (very good), thai egg rolls, traditional tea, noodles and more... members of the Wakefield community (and others) enjoyed this treat during the warm evening in and outside the restaurant. The idea of a free buffet to introduce a new restaurant to the community was a great idea! I do wish the new owners sucess and hope Thai Smile will survive. Their prices are signficantly lower than the Duck Walk and I see their only disadvantage over the Duck Walk is not having a liquor license!
