Asian BBQ at Sumi

MC Slim JB | Jan 27, 2006 02:15 PM

New storefont place called Sumi ("charcoal" in Japanese) that does grilled skewers of various meats and veggies. A couple of doors down from the Silhouette Lounge in Allston Village, from the same ownership as Khao Sarn. Not explictly a yakitori place: seasonings go beyond salt or tare.

I tried a variety of skewers (most are $2-$3, with three or four bite-sized chunks on each); favorites were the pork belly with rind, chicken, and a marinated steak, not sure what cut. Pork tongue had more textural interest than pleasing flavor. Tasty, cheap, tiny. Worth a look.
