I recently posted about this little family owned Laotian/Thai restaurant at 47th and Market. I just wanted to add to and correct a bit about what I said.
First, I said it was in the back of a strip mall behind a tire shop. Well, actually, it is behind a car repair shop that seems happy to do tune-ups or brake jobs, but no mention of tires. sorry.
Second, as I discovered on my last visit, Asia Cafe closes at 6:30. Shortly after I entered the place at 6:15, I watched as a large family finished and left, then two different groups carried off a whole lot of take-out, and then the young server flipped the OPEN sign over to CLOSED. I had already ordered, but not wanting to keep the whole family there until I ate etc, I opted to get the food to go.
Third, the food is really good. I had the Yum Asia, a nice seafood combo, mixed with all kinds of crunchy veggies (green pepper, cucumber, etc) served in a spicy SE Asian sauce over noodles. And the chicken larb was a huge plate of minced chicken (including gizzard slices) and chopped cilantro completely flavored with chilies, fish sauce etc. It was more food than I could eat - and I can eat. All the flavors were vivid.
I will go back again next time I'm in town.
