At Sophies, my favorite mod diner joint in Vancouver my wife and I have a bowl of their amazing ashura wheat breakfast. IT's a hearty whole-grain mix of really complex sweet spices and dried fruit and nutty goodness.
It's served chilled, moist and very chewy with a side bowl of yogurt and fresh cut fruit. Aside from pumpkin pancakes it might be my favorite breakfast on earth.
The only recipe I've found on the web is much more savory with beans and such added. It looks to be a dish with religous roots. Has anyone else had this Canadian variety or know of a good recipe?
