Restaurants & Bars 3

The Ashley in Downtown Stuart

I was really not expecting great things. It's always looked to me like a bar/restaurant that had good location with "atmosphere" and little else. But i was pleasantly suprised. That's the nice thing about low expectations...

Our waiter was attentive and good even in the valentine dinner rush. The cornmeal fried oysters with mango relish and hot dipping sauce were really good, the duck appetiser special with orzo was perfectly done and very tender and flavorful, the lobster ravioli with blue cheese sauce could have been overpowering but instead had a mild piquancy that was rich and balanced. i had a simi valley cabernet by the glass (not sure which producer) that was excellent.

We'll eat there again. With higher expectations.
