DW and I spent Valentine's in Asheville for this past weekend. A few notes; aside from violating a personal rule about eating prix fixe menus on holidays, it was a lovely time. Rhoubarb was lovely on Saturday despite subzero temps. The middle courses were fairly standard, but the app of an almond soup and vaguely Indian spiced doughnuts for dessert were a highlight. I think that this place might live up to the growing hype; but I'd prefer a chance to check out the regular menu. The Thunderbird, as a pop-up cocktail place was excellent. A knowledgeable bartender, and friendly atmosphere were very pleasant. Curate for brunch remains outstanding.
