I spotted AG John Ashcroft with a herd of his minions at Five Guys having a lunchtime burger a few months ago, and today I noticed his picture among the celeb photos lining the wall at Florida Avenue Grill. Is the man a closet chowhound? Should we be lobbying for a USA Chowhound Act to defend our rights against the threat of chain restaurant encroachment?
Seriously, has anyone else spotted him in our favorite haunts? Any other DC politico celebs been seen at any of the (downscale but good) establishments we patronize? It would be interesting to know if the other half has seen the light. Especially in view of the latest trend in LA, as reported in yesterday's NYT Food Section, that the big thing there now is little restaurants in strip malls rather than the velvet rope celeb places which used to be where the action was.
Maybe for once we're on the leading edge of the latest cultural wave.
