Had dinner at Asanebo in Studio City Saturday night. As usual the omakase was fabulous. First course was warm spinach salad with portobello mushroom, followed by another course with 5 small apps (salmon roe, some kind of seaweed concoction, homemade tofu, squid, etc.) Then live scallop sashimi topped with beluga caviar, a seafood soup, a kobe beef course, and some others I'm forgetting. Ended with chocolate souflee (sp?) with vanilla ice cream.
Last time I was there the omakase was $65 pp, this time they charged me $105!! With tax & tip & a couple drinks $146. Luckily my company was picking up the tab. I have to say that as much as I like the food I won't be going back any time soon on my own dime, I'll be heading across the street to Tama instead.
