Arunee Thai Restaurant & Grameen

I just became aware of Arunee in Jackson Heights (37-68 79th St) from David who posted yesterday. I went for lunch today and had Panang curry with chicken that was served in a large bento box which included salad, 2 pieces chicken wings, 2 spring rolls, rice and watermelon. Also included was a soup with 6 pieces of tofu. All of this for $5.95. The lunch specials not served in a bento box are numerous and range in price from $4.95 to $5.50. The waitress was very courteous and helpful and the service was excellent. Overall, I was pleased.

Yesterday, I had the most incredible Meat Samosa at Grameen (37th Ave & 75th St Jackson Heights) but they don't look anything like Samosa. Went there for a Mango & Stawberry Smoothie and noticed the Samosa in a glass heated case next to the cash register. The owner strongly urged me to try one. I did and had 4 more. They look like small pastries and are square. They're very delicate and the outside is like phyloo dough that Greeks use for pastries. The meat inside is excellent. I plan to return often for this delicacy and they're just 75 cents. They also have vegetarian Samosa which I didn't try.
