Help! Arriving in Japan on March 31, have no restaurant reservations!

FromHomeToRoam | Mar 19, 201512:58 PM

So I see to go to the top places I needed to make a reservation a few months ago. But without any current reservations are there places we can go where we can still get a reservation or that you can go without one?? Having kaiseki meals 3nights in ryokans so not quite as concerned about that, but hoping to get some good sushi, yakitori and yakiniku. We do care a lot about our meals, and am disappointed we won't get to have a top sushi meal, but hoping to still find some great food. Do you need reservations at izakaya? We will be in Tokyo (Four Seasons near Tokyo Station) and Kyoto (Kyoto Brighton Hotel near Imperial Palace - I know not near much). You will notice I'm not a regular here - if I was, I would not have made this mistake, right?? Thanks for any general tips on how to eat well when your behind on the reservations!!
Thanks
