Aroy Thai

Deflator_Mouse | Mar 15, 2004 12:20 PM

Just catching up on some of the threads from the last several days. Rather than post down below in the thread where Aroy came up as a tangent, I thought I'd create a new one.

We have been to Aroy a handful of times -- I think 5, including the times we've had delivered.

We have only ordered off their readily available menu, which covers mostly the standard Ameri-Thai options. I don't know if there is a secret menu or if they are open to off-menu requests.

We've found their dishes hit and miss. E.g., for our tastes (and I have no idea how these calibrate with others in terms of Thai flavors), they did an overly fishy papaya salad but a tasty chicken larb.

I have a particular weakness for their "spicy fire pork" -- hardly a revelation (basically skewers of moderately spicy marinated -- I think -- grilled pork), but good eating, especially for a pork glutton like me.

The space itself is very nice (has a classy feel to it) and the few times we ate at the restaurant (as opposed to take out or delivery), the service was good. It's BYO (no fee), by the way.

We haven't been in the last several months. Not because it's bad. It's a fine place. But Opart isn't much farther from us than Aroy and we've been in an Opart zone lately. But now that I think about those pork strips . . .
