Armenian Sandwich in the Valley

PaulF | Aug 21, 2006 07:01 PM

Years ago I worked near the intersection of Vesper and Vanowen.

And I used to ride east a few miles to an Armenian grocery store that had a sandwich counter in it. And they made these amazing sandwiches of grilled meat on pita. But the pita wasn't stuffed or filled with the sandwich meat, it was sort of rolled or folded over it.

And it's been years since I've been there and now there and I can't even remember exactly where it was -- I think it must have been Oxnard or Burbank east of Van Nuys for sure. But since there is this great invention called the Internet and there are these great things called message boards, I thought I'd ask if anyone knew what I was talking about ... I'd like to go back and have one of those sandwiches.

(BTW I originally found the place because the Daily News or LA Weekly or the Reader or something like that named this place the best sandwich in Los Angeles.)
