Quick review on Armani's
I went on Armani's last night for a business meal, we choose this place since it's suppose to be the best Italian in Tampa.
One of the things that call my attention was how overstaffed this place is, there were two people at the entrance just to check reservations, like three people to welcome to the place, then a number of different waiters and maitres that were dancing around (one for bread, one for water, one for wine, etc.) Our waiter was of some undeterminable age with what I perceived as various facial botox treatments and/or plastic surgeries, the result was a weird resemblance to a late Richard Mitchum,
Wine list, extensive and expensive, when we ask for recommendations Richard freely point out two wines over 100, but just randomly. We end up having a 60 bottle of a Tuscan and then 130 bottle of antinori.
Then the food, I was expecting something Italian, rather this was a glorified version of American Italian (Italian American?) food.
For appetizer I had some crepe filled with crab meat and covered in a sort of cheese (mustard too?) fondue.
Then for entree rack of lamb, Unremarkable
Dessert some chocolat mouse cake.
The special of the night was some weird dish combining veal AND sea bass (typical Italian dish?)
Overall, I think this could pass as an expensive olive garden, the best in Tampa? I don't think so, I would stick to Spartaco.
And for your amusement, I ordered a macchiato that of all things came with lemon rind (lemon rind seems like a tradition in the US, but with milk? common!!)
