Went to Arcelia's for dinner the other evening. I know, I know, this is really not a chowhoundy place--Americanized food and all--but it serves food that is, for lack of a better word, nostalgic, for me. The enchiladas de papas are pretty tasty, and the whole menu reminds me of the sorts of "Family" Mexican places that were big in the anglo parts of the central valley of CA (where I grew up) in the 70s and 80s, when I was a kid.
The thing I couldn't believe was, We had to wait for a table!!! I've never been there when there were more than three full tables in the main dining room before. When did this place get busy? Has anybody seen this at Arcelia's before?
