first timer to applewood last night. we were quite early, by half an hour for our reservation and went straight to the bar at the back where we grabbed a bottle of $28 spanish parraleta and a cider. 20 minutes after our reservation came and went, i think the owner came by and said our drinks were on the house, which was quite gracious of them and she didn't need to do this.
the bread came out w/ the spreads. the french butter was sublime, i must say. i had the pork belly appetizer, which was great. the dish it came on was very hot as was the actual belly. the suckling pig entree, was great, but it came lukewarm, perhaps because we had 3 other entrees waiting for it to come out also.
other dining guests had the arctic char, the venison (which he deemed excellent w/ its smoky flavor) and the roasted duck breast.
service was modest and not bothersome.
bill came to $165 before tip.
