Apple picking near(ish) Philly?

Eva and Ziv | Sep 8, 2005 12:04 PM

My favorite season is beginning, and I am raring to find a pick-your-own apple orchard. Friends and I will be starting in Philly (we do have a car), and we'd like no more than a 1.5-hour drive. Bonus points for a scenic route and/or a particulary pretty orchard (not exactly chowish, I know, but I'm trying to recreate a childhood experience).

My preferred variety is the classic Macintosh, so that's a pretty basic requirement (*might* be waived for something spectacular). A market selling homemade cider and fresh cider donuts would be a huge plus.

What are the best places in the Philly region?
