on a last minute trip to the shenandoah valley we followed the signs to shyline dr and got off at exit 13 on Rt 66.knowing my wife has to eat at or near noon and not knowing when we would find a place to eat i pulled into the apple house restaurant on rt 55 right at the exit. I pulled in because i love bbq and i could smell the smoke from their restaurant from 200 yards away.
after briefly looking at the merchandise in the tourist part of the store we went into the restaurant to look over the menu. the first thing i saw was "fastest meal is the pulled pork platter". it came with cole slaw(very sweet) and some baked beans. not "boston" beans, these also contained kidney and chickpeas(very tasty). My older daughter had the Buffalo cheeseburger and the baby had a hotdog.
you could taste the REAL wood smoke(apple & hickory wood)in the pork and the buffalo burger was huge.for dessert we had apple cider donuts that rivaled my favorites at Battleview orchards in freehold, NJ
total came to about $32.00 with soda refills at .25 cents a piece.
