Just back from a trip to England and Ireland where I had the most delicious homemade apple crumble at a house party in Galway. The crumble topping was very fine and the apples were stewed rather than raw. I asked around and found that this is the standard prep for this dish. Also had a fabulous, buttery muffin with a stewed apple center which also appears to be a classic in both countries. Would love recipes for either if it rings a bell. Thanks!
