My Dad and I are gleefully frank about giving each other our birthday wish lists, and he's indicated that he'd like a book on appetizers. He's a skilled and adventurous home chef, with (thanks to Jungle Jim's in the Greater Cincinnati area) access to a stunning array of international ingredients, and is a bit of a Food Network/celeb chef junkie (though that's that least important factor).
He loves throwing dinner parties for guests ranging from the tame-palated (my Mum) to heat freaks, so something with a range might be nice.
