Restaurants & Bars 2

Dang it. This is two in a row for me.

Had a coupon so we tried Apothecary on Burnett yesterday for lunch.

Slap-dash patio out front and very dark inside. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. We were offered the $7.95 half sandwich/soup or salad combo and were told anything but the Greek salad. Okay.

I ordered the ham, salami and prosciutto on french bread and was told, "Oh any sandwich but that one." Well, then. That one was the one I wanted so I opted to not do the lunch deal and just have the sandwich for $9.95. Husband got the deal and went with soup (tomato basil) and the grilled chicken and pepper-jack.

Took about 15 minutes to get our meals. While the soup was good, the sandwiches disappointed. Hubber's half sandwich was about the size of a dinner roll. Mine was served on a small toasted baguette (maybe 4" long and about 1" wide) and broke all the rules of sandwich. The bread was so crusty and hard that with every bite the meat and tomato squished out the other side. The description said it had basil pesto and ceaser dressing, but I couldn't taste or see any on it and it desperately needed flavor. I asked for some dressing to help it. Now, while nothing was awful, it certainly wasn't anything I'd want again. Without the coupon our lunch, with tea would have come to $30, which would have felt like a complete rip-off.
