Apizz report (with short rib gnocchi to die for!)

we've dined at Apizz several times since they opened. last year I though they'd lost it, food was very average. we had a great meal a couple weeks ago and went back last night to confirm - and had an exceptional dinner! everything we tried was wonderful, fresh, full of flavor. service was good. great crusty bread, and bowls of fresh ricotta and tomato sauce brought over when you sit down.

but the homemade Gnocchi in a braised short rib ragu was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! the ragu is not your average slow cooked red sauce - it's has intricate flavors and some real depth - and is loaded with tender, heavenly short rib meat. and the gnocchi is simply perfect (nice size, perfect texture, lightly herbed.) even the cheese used is great.

the oven fried vegetable appetizer, wood roasted whole fish, crispy chicken with salad, and ricotta and butternut squash ravioli were also big hits.

still not a huge fan of their pizzas or meatballs. and they seated us for a 7:45 reservation at 8:20 (last time we were seated promptly)

Apizz's room is beautiful and romantic, with a large open wood burning oven at the front
