Last time i was here was a year ago. I heard a couple of rumors that they revamped the menu, so I decided to head to the lower east side to check out the changes. I must admit I was blown away by he changes. I mean, I love the way Mario Batali does his wild boar, but these guys at apizz have got my vote for the best wild boar lasagna in NY.
Next up. I can't believe what they did with the pizza. Their using fresh buffalo mozzarella and on all the pizza's (as I was informed by the waiter) and the thin crisp crust is exactly what makes the balance of moist, tangy cheese perfect together. I also noticed the wine list has expanded considerably. It now covers almost every region in Italy.
Later, after some friendly conversation with the staff. I was informed that owner John something or other, has taken over in the kitchen and meticulously changed everything on the menu and spends all of his spare time in the kitchen. Doensn't matter who's cooking, but I found all the changes to be positive.
My next stop in the lower east side is Schiller's. Keith McNally's new joint. Heard they have homemade doughnuts and cuban sandwiches!!!!!!
