AOC tips please

Teresa | Jun 28, 2004 06:06 PM

Hi Chowhounders. I'm finally trying out AOC after drooling over all the delicious posts since it's opening. I'm planning to take my boyfriend for his birthday next month, but am hoping to get some advice beforehand for the best experience possible.

First, should I be requesting a specific table or area in the restaurant to be seated in? I've read posts saying the front room is where all the action is, or that the front is too loud and the patio is better, or at the wine bar for the atmosphere. I'd like to not be pushed up into another table and be able to talk, but not stuck in a secluded corner either.

How many small plates is a normal serving per person? Two plates, three, four? .. I was planning on having a cheese course, and dessert, as well as some wines, of course.

Finally, I took a look at the menu and so many things look good so if anyone could name some not-to-be-missed or better-missed dishes, it'd help so much to narrow things down! .. I've mainly gathered from past posts that the stuffed bacon-wrapped dates are great, but everything else is up in the air.

Thanks very much in advance!
