Dad had never been.
Started with the bacon wrapped dates.
He got "the look," as Sophia called it on "The Golden Girls." All of a sudden he's telling the two beautiful women speaking Italian at the table next to us they have to order the dates. "They've got a hint of maple," he said. "They'll remind you of Christmas."
I'm looking at this man and thinking, do I know you?
Then on to the plate of coppa -- Italian salamis. "Are they open on Sundays?" he asks with his mouth full. "We've got to rotate them in."
Next came the pear and endive salad, then the red curry cauliflower, then the skirt steak with Roquefort butter, then the heavenly brussels sprouts with pancetta. Finally, apple huckleberry pie with vanilla ice cream. We both loved every bite. One non-alcoholic drink for me and the bill was well under $70. So many different dishes -- and so many more still to try -- prepared so well and at such a reasonable price. It had been too long; AOC is definitely one of the top five restaurants in town.
