Was really looking forward to eating at this restaurant last Saturday with my 2 friends (3 women, in all). Our movie ran later than advertised, so we missed our 10:30 reservation by 5 minutes and lost our table -- we were extremely apologetic and were going to leave, but the host asked us to wait, assuring us that we'd be seated shortly. We thanked him and waited patiently. However, when a table in the front opened up, the host offered it to the group of 4 people (1 man, 3 women) that had walked in after us without reservations. We nicely pointed out that we had been waiting and would prefer that table to the still-occupied one in the back he had told us we would get. He snarled at us not to make a scene -- which was completely baffling, as my friend was talking quietly, with a smile on her face. He then loudly asked the man in the other group which table he'd prefer, and of course he chose the one that was available. I'm not normally overly sensitive to this sort of thing, but we all got the impression that we would have gotten a different result if there had been men in our party. We left and had a great meal with cheerful service at Blue Ribbon Bakery. I will NEVER go back to AOC Bedford -- there are too many good restaurants in town to have to deal with this sort of thing.
