I had the chance to try takeout from Antojitos Chapines on West Main in Stamford, a new Guatemalan restaurant spotted by adamclyde last week.
I bought chicken and beef empanadas (fried corn pockets filled with stewed meat, potatoes and some vegetables) and pupusas (thick corn tortillas filled with cheese and/or meat). All of these were very good, but mildly spiced and needing salt. They both came with an orange tomato-based sauce and grated hard cheese, along with a salad.
There's lots else on the menu worth checking out, and I'll be going back. Some of the interesting items include carne asada, carne adobada, rellenos, tamales (Fri - Sun only), totstitos and fried tacos. They also have some Guatemalan soft drinks, and a jug of horchata.
