Antique Garage Restaurant - HORRIBLE

OK, I get really upset when I have a disgusting meal in New York at an expensive place.

Antique Garage, in Soho on Mercer Street, was just such a place.

Very nice service, an attractive dining area and decent wine, I'll give it that. The food is horrible. Embarassing.

They have a Pizzeta appetizer on the menu for $16. This consists of strips of ham, over lettuce, over some flat bread smeared with blue cheese. It looked absurd. It tasted... like ham over lettuce over flat bread. Are you kidding me?? I wouldn't serve this to anyone.

The eggplant appetizer. $9 or so for what tasted like supermarket babaganoosh on a tiny plate.

And the Turkish meatballs entree. $20 for - this is no exageration - grey, hockey-puck looking meat slabs that tasted EXACTLY like the Swanson's Salisbury Steaks my Junior High School served.

Antique Garage is just a bad restaurant. If you like Soho, and atmosphere, and don't mind paying big money for hideous food, then by all means, go. If you care even remotely about your food, I suggest you avoid this place.
