Best anti-Valentine's meal?

AI | Feb 10, 200311:31 AM

My husband and I are staying in the loop on V-day. Instead of our usual nice restaurant and a show sort of evening, I'm springing hockey tickets on him (definitely a true love gift cause I'm no fan).

I'd also like a good place to eat, but I've got a certain ambiance in mind:

-must serve greasy food
-must be in the loop, south loop or close to either
-prefer a Chicago institution or at least a place with a great local's reputation
-serves beer and/or liquor (or if you can recommend a place nearby for drinks)

The only place I can think of that meets all the criteria is Billy Goat's but I don't consider their food to be the kind of greasy food you come back for. Not like, say, Byron's polish sausages (ah if only there was one of those in the loop).

Any suggestions for super casual dining?
