Well, the ladies came out in favor of "someplace nice" last night, so we went to Anthem over Porter's. Very friendly service - I showed up early, with no juice in my cell phone to respond to a panicked "I need directions" message, and they offered me a choice of their back office or (empty) downstairs lounge to plug in my charger to call.
Cocktails were nice, and service appropriately attentive. Stuck mostly to appetizers, sharing the spinach & artichoke fondue between the three of us - good fun concept, but ratio of veg. flavor to cheese & salt was too low. also bread cubes of very uneven sizes (esp. the small ones) made hanging on to them in the goo tough. Duck confit risotto delicious, chock full of goodies like onions, potato, and generous duck shreds with yummy fresh parm on top. Tuna tartare looked good with chip-like scoops to get the cubes and some seaweed salad underneath(I didn't try it). Hangar steak (the only entree) came out more well-done than the requested medium, blue cheese on potatoes a little soggy. Have to agree with previous posts that it was the loser of the bunch.
Total for 3 (incl. one cocktail each) was $80, plus tip.
Certainly not a destination restaurant for me, but a reasonable choice if you're near the Fleet Center and want a non-bar/pub option.
