I was walking down 3rd St and feeling hungry, so I stopped in at Joan's on Third to grab some chow. I picked up a package of Italian cookies that were right inside the door, specifically "Galletti con Granelli di Zucchero" by Mulino Bianco. They cost $7.50. With such a fancy name and fancy price, they ought to be great. But in fact they were completely flavorless. I find this annoying. An expensive gourmet-type place like Joan's on Third could easily taste the goods it sells to determine whether they are good or not. But instead it's necessary for us all to have hyper-detailed intelligence about every morsel we buy. I guess that's what the Internet is for.
