Anniversary lunch - Raleigh or Durham

BerriesAndToast | May 22, 201712:20 PM

I am looking for restaurant ideas for a Saturday anniversary lunch, ideally in downtown Raleigh, North Raleigh, or downtown Durham. We enjoy vegetable/seafood focused cooking (no beef/pork) from most any ethnicity and are seeking a more "dinner-like" lunch (2-3 courses, table service, etc, just with smaller portions...and not brunch). Fantastic desserts are a plus. We haven't kept up very well with new places that have opened in the past 2-3 years, so I'm hoping you all have some suggestions that we haven't already thought of.

To give you a better idea of the type of food we like, here are a few local restaurants we've enjoyed: Garland, Kimbap, Fiction Kitchen, Centro, Capital Club 16, St. Jacques, Bida Manda, Sono, Mandolin, Mateo, Panciuto. However, many of these are not open for Saturday lunch or have a very casual menu/atmosphere during lunch.

So far our best idea has been St. Jacques, but we haven't been there since the ownership changed and don't know if it is as good as it used to be. Plus it would be nice to walk around afterward, and there isn't much opportunity for that near St. Jacques. Anyone been there recently?

And a quick explanation in case you're wondering why we don't just go to dinner instead: we have a toddler who doesn't do well with a babysitter at night. Even an early dinner is out of the question because we will likely have to drive 30+ minutes to get somewhere "anniversary worthy" from our home in northern Wake County. We'd really have to rush through dinner to get back home for our toddler's early bedtime. Thanks!

Mateo Bar de Tapas,
Sono Sushi,
Bida Manda Laotian Restaurant and Bar,
The Fiction Kitchen,
Kimbap Cafe,
Capital Club 16,
Saint Jacques
