Anniversary dinner - this Fri. - must please a vegan

bella716 | Dec 5, 201110:49 AM     17

Hi all,

I need a place for dinner this Friday. Manhattan (ideally below 23rd) or Brooklyn.

Can't be too pricey - ex. most entrees between 15 and 26 bucks.

Can't have fois gras on the menu, just can't support that.

I'm not a vegan, but my husband is. Don't really like Asian food (I do like sushi, but he doesn't eat fish) or Indian. Any ideas?

I went through Zagat and Yelp extensively, but nothing was really exciting me. And I was mostly coming up with Italian which we eat quite a bit of all year round. The hard part is vegan friendly entrees. He isn't a true vegan, he will eat cheese and eggs, but he prefers not to eat them in big portions--i.e. it can't have a big poached egg as the star protein or a big hunk of cheese as the main ingredient.

I have a reservation with Pepolino, but some of their recent yelp reviews have me with second thoughts, since it's kind of out of our way. Just was wondering if anyone had any ideas as I spent hours combing reviews and menus, and am not really too pleased with the results.

Thanks in advance.
