Anna's Seafood started up four months ago offering sustainable seafood for home cooks at area farmers markets. The owner/founder is Anna Svedise
https://www.instagram.com/annaliciasv... . If that name sounds familiar, yes, she is from the family that have been local seafood brokers for generations. Her parents operate Santa Rosa Seafood and from working there, she says she learned from the best.
I caught up with her at the Petaluma farmers market on Tuesday. I bought the ahi poke, $15, and it is the best quality fish I've had in any mainland poke. Big cubes of tender, not frozen ahi tuna, completely trimmed of gristle and blood lines and seasoned with green onion and sesame seeds, containers of the shoyu seasoning sauce and spicy mayo are packed on the side. This lets you see how pristine the fish itself is, and then add the condiments to taste. Absolutely delicious.
Anna plans to be selling at more farmers markets soon. She said that one can drop by her production facility on Thursday, Friday or Saturday to purchase seafood as well. She does not have retail display cases yet but is happy to sell to customers on the spot.

This article is about the treated tuna that most of the poke bars that are springing up serve. Not at Anna's.
