Annam Brahma in Queens? Jim Leff?

JC | Sep 4, 2003 07:14 PM

I copied a post from April 2000 below from Jim Leff about a vegetarian restaurant called Annam Brahma. I took the F train to Parsons Blvd today and tried to find it. (I had seen it listed in a vegan restaurant guide published by The Friends of Animals as well). I walked about 1 1/2 miles north to 72nd and found Oneness Fountain Heart (a great veggie place), and about a block from the F train station I found Smile of the Beyond. They're both owned by students of Sri Chinmoy. But I was really looking for Annan Brahma. I tried calling the phone number below, but I'm not sure what the person on the line said. I'm not sure they were speaking English.

The problem is that I don't know Queens that well. I get confused by the streets because I would see 84 Road and 84 Avenue, one after another. I tried searching for the address below on Mapquest, but nothing comes up. Does anyone know if this vegetarian restaurant still exists? Any thoughts on how to find it?

Thanks.

Message: Annam Brahma (sanskrit, BTW, for "food is God"). I'd assumed that place was closed for years, but just found them, still listed in the phone book at their old address of 84-43 164 Street (just south of grand central parkway), 718-523-2600
