Laura Whittaker, senior manager at Ann Summers, says the surge in interest took the company by surprise. “We’re living in an uncertain time right now, and we’ve all seen the shocking images of empty supermarket shelves caused by panic buyers, however we certainly didn’t expect it to affect us here at Ann Summers,” she says. “Our stock of penis pasta sold out in our online store, following a 1,300% increase in weekly sales, as people rushed online to stock their kitchen cupboards. We do have limited supplies, but are replenishing our online stock on a daily basis to keep up with this somewhat unexpected demand.”
