After hearing all the raves about Angon on the Sixth, I couldn't wait to go there. When my husband and I first went there a few weeks ago I was extremely disappointed with my dish, the Reshmi Kabab, but I thought perhaps I hadn't chosen the best dish. But my experience was repeated when we went there on Friday night and I ordered the chicken kurma. My husband ordered an eggplant accompaniment which tasted like it had been mixed with wasabi. Very weird and not good. I think we'll be sticking with Banjara and Brick Lane..
On the other hand, we had a very good experience with Mercadito, the new Mexican restaurant on Avenue B and East 11th St. The food was very fresh and good. It's a small restaurant though and they don't take reservations so it's probably best to get there earlier.
