"Americanized" Sushi in Oahu

princess00 | May 15, 201603:58 PM     6

I am starting to plan our upcoming trip to Oahu. I will be traveling with my husband and our 7 year old daughter. I am looking for a tasty sushi spot with fresh fish and interesting rolls. Here is the thing ... when I search the boards, I see the responses with the top options (Sushi Ginza Odonera, Dokoro Kazuma, Izakaya Gaku, Isakaya Naru, Mitch's, etc.) ). All of these look like a totally amazing experience. However, first - I think it may be too adventurous for my husband and I - we haven't tried Uni and Squid, etc.. And - the atmosphere does not look like it would be appropriate to bring my 7 year old daughter.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a "lower tier" sushi that is a bit more "Americanized"? (this is the best way I can put it - ha ha). We are simple land-locked Texans that would be happy with a fresh bite of well prepared spicy tuna and maybe some shrimp tempura. Thoughts?

On Maui ... we ate at Sansei and had a great experience ... but when I look at the feedback of Sansei in Oahu ... I am concerned ...

Any help chowhounds????
